Hey everyone!

Im after any support/tips on how I can get my rig running (as smoothly as possible) in a different room. Currently my PC is set up in my office which is upstairs, with my living room on the opposite side of the house downstairs. I live in a 2/3 bed terraced house in the UK, so anyone from here will be familiar with the size.

I've always been a couch console gamer, but decided to join the master race last year and migrate my library over to Steam slowly but surely. I'd love to have the flexibility of playing my PC in either room but don't want to start drilling holes in walls to run cables just yet.

I'm not 100% against streaming, but as my PC is high spec and I've got an LG C3 oled downstairs, it seems a waste to lose the fidelity.

This is my first post here, so apologies if I've missed anything!

Looking forward to getting some tips from the experts!

for transmitting hdmi and usb over long distance is best done by hdmi over ethernet and usb over ethernet. you don't have to drill holes through the wall you could run the cables along the base of the wall instead. Here's a video explaining hdmi over ethernet

You can use shielded cable and use the path that the electricians have conveniently provided for you. Just make sure the power is off when running the cable to prevent problems while doing so. I recommend shielded to prevent any possible interference from the electrical wiring as added precaution.

And depending on the outlet situation you can even sue the second socket to run the cable to.

If your TV supports installing Steam Link and connecting a controller via Bluetooth directly, do that. It's a built-in Steam feature that allows you to stream gameplay and input. Otherwise, look into getting a Chromecast or an Android box to install Steam Link on there. If all your devices are on the same LAN and ideally on Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi, it shouldn't mean too much latency or quality loss.

And now a word from our sponsor: 💩
