Got an existing workflow at work for how people manage their PDF's. When people want to see a PDF document, they click on the one they want by opening up a new tab, Chrome auto downloads it and automatically closes the tab that was used to open, then download the cert to open it in PDF apps on the PC.

Problem is that one of the laptops don't close the tabs that are opened for when it downloads the certs. Not a problem when a single cert is downloaded but it's annoying when a large amount of certs is downloaded and all those tabs are left open, meaning they all have to be closed manually.

I've tried all the settings in Chrome for the auto download PDF's when opened and nothing is really changing. The PDF's are still opened and downloaded but it's not closing the tabs. Anyone know a fix? Nothing similar on the web as well, people have this feature either fully not work or not downgliding certs but not working and breaking after cert is downloaded.

The easy way is to right click on the tab you want to stay open then select "Close other tabs" in the drop down menu.

That's a faster way of doing it thanks, as I didn't think of it but still not ideal as it doesn't resolve the issue.

There's also the  "Auto Tab Discard" "extension from the Google Web Store that according to Google:automatically discards tabs that haven’t been used for a specified period...  which is settable by the user.

They list a couple of others, but this appears to be the most suitable for your wants.
