This Microsoft page is your starting point - install the PC health check app and it will tell you what's wrong.

Your parts support Windows 11 so it has to be a setting not enabled - likely the TPM in the BIOS.

Only OG Zen CPUs don't support Windows 11 i.e. Ryzen 1000 or Ryzen 2000 APUs. Your 3900XT is fine.

Motherboard page says Win 11 is supported. User manual - see pages 28-31. Go to the BIOS and Settings>Miscellaneous>AMD CPU fTPM - make sure that is set to On. It's disabled by default which would block an Win 11 install, so that's where I'd go.

tbh with the parts you already have, I personally wouldn't upgrade until AM6 or whatever the 2026 Intel parts may end up being.

Budget (including currency): about 1000€

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Fractal Design Focus G Mini

GPU:

Palit Duo RTX 4070 Super 12GB

RAM:

32GB G.Skill DDR4 3600 CL16 2x16GB

CPU:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT

Motherboard:

Gigabyte B550M Aorus Pro

Storage:

Two SSDs and a HDD

Im somewhat new to building PCs so i would like to have some opnions if my planned upgrades would make sense.

define making sense , your current machine doesn't seem too incapable.

I generally want to upgrade to AM5, improve performance and upgrade to Windows 11, as my current system isnt able to install windows 11.

I would appreciate advice if the parts work well togehter or some parts would be overkill/underpowered.

your current machine including the board seem to support windows 11 as it has a tpm module.

I don't personally think with the parts you've selected that you will see a 1000$ worth of performance upgrade alone.

Get a 5800/5700x3d. Maybe even used. A new case! and extra storage if you need it. Much better value. Also your current PC supports windows 11 fully. If not its setup incorrectly.

Your PC supports it. I think you just need to enable secure boot and maybe TPM as @emosunsaid.

You can check System Information in windows and post here if you want to.

If I were you, I wouldn't make that upgrade. Just buy a Ryzen 7 5800X3D (or 5700X3D) and enjoy for a few more years. Your PC is more than capable and it won't make any sense upgrading all that.

As the others said, with a Ryzen 3000 (or 5000 also) you can upgrade to Windows 11, if you want to. In the worst case scenario, buy the 5800X3D, format your OS drive and make fresh new install of Windows 11.

Thanks to everyone for the advice:)

I was able to activate TPM and check that my PC is able to upgrade to Windows 11.

While Windows still doesnt show me the update, in a few hours it should do so.

I really appreciate your help and am happy that i can save some more money before upgrading my PC.
