Hi guys,

Just bought a Lenovo Legion 5 15IRX10 (i9-14900HX, RTX 5070)

As I was afraid, the CPU is too powerful so it overheats, gets to 96c during a render like 10 seconds after.

I had to activate on the BIOS the Lenovo optimization so I unlocked Undervolt Protection and disabled it.

Got Throttlestop running and played with the FIVR settings, I did a -75mv and also -100mv, the temps literally stayed the same

(I applied the settings of course) so I looked at HWinfo's sensors. The CPU Power was still maxing at 125W no matter what Voltage I applied.

Tried -140mv and still no temps change and it BSOD (as it was expected).

So now I tried capping the Power. Tried 100W and still was hitting 125W and 96c.

Tried 85W and still no luck.

No matter what I do it doesn't seem to apply the settings.

I even got a Llano Cooler and at 2000 rpm all it can do is 85c.

Anyone else having this issues?

Thank you!

@Kratos

Are you adjusting the CPU Core and P Cache offset undervolt values equally? Is Windows core isolation memory integrity and anything else VBS related disabled? Do the undervolt values immediately show up in the FIVR monitoring table when you press the Apply button? They should. HWiNFO does not update the undervolt values it reports in real time. You will need to restart HWiNFO each time you use ThrottleStop to make any voltage changes. The FIVR monitoring table does not have this issue.

Post screenshots of the FIVR and TPL windows so I can see your settings.

Ultimate ThrottleStop Settings Guide

The 14900HX needs over 230 Watts to run Cinebench at its full rated speed. That is after it has been significantly undervolted and the undervolt is working correctly. Undervolting can help your computer run a little faster. Power consumption is not going to change. Either power limit throttling or thermal throttling are inevitable.

If you are trying to limit power consumption, make sure you have checked the Clamp options in the TPL window of ThrottleStop.

Set V/F Point 1 to 150 in the ThrottleStop V/F Point window. Do this first before trying to use a large undervolt. It will help improve stability. Set all Turbo Groups to 52 or less.
