Budget (including currency): IDK at this point. My new budget is probably over 10.000 DKK.

Country: Denmark

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Racing games, FPS, Single player, story games, watching stuff.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Currently play on 1080p. Will be upgraded to 1440p in the near future.

I originally planned a build with a budget of around $1000.

Since then, I’ve decided to spend more and go for a more powerful setup.

Even though I’ve already exceeded my original budget once, I don’t want to keep increasing it.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9700x (2.399,00kr @ Proshop)
CPU Cooler: *ID-COOLING FROZN A620 PRO SE 58 CFM CPU Cooler (258,00kr @ Proshop)
Motherboard: Asus TUF Gaming B650M-plus (889,00kr @ Proshop) Currently on sale.
Originally I chose the ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 (868.00 DKK @ Computersalg), but with the ASUS board on sale for nearly the same price, I believe it offers better value.

Question regarding the motherboard: Is a B650 enough for this build?
Memory: *TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan DDR5-6000 - 32 GB - CL 30 (777,00kr @ Proshop) Bought on sale
Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($0,00)
Storage: Seagate BarraCuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive ($0,00)
Video Card: XFX Radeon RX 9070 XT Swift Triple Fan Black (5.664,00kr @ Proshop)
Case:  Montech Air 903 MAX (641,00kr @ Proshop)
Power Supply: Still undecided. I’ve looked into 750W and 850W options, but I’m unsure what’s best. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

As I’m not in a rush, I plan to buy components when they’re on sale. This means that the exact models might vary. For example if a different model of RX 9070 XT is discounted, I’ll go for that instead.

Website and Model are not locked.

Any suggestions or opinions on the build would be really appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi, I'll just comment on the motherboard. The B650 boards might need a BIOS flash to work with your CPU. If you have a friend with a 7000 series CPU you can do it yourself. Other than that yes, the B650 chipset is enough for this build or almost any build for that matter. (There aren't many big differences between chipsets besides PCIe support, max number of usb, sata ports, but you have to look into the motherboard specs for that anyway).

I would however advise going for a B840 or an A620 chipset board since they don't support overclocking and are usually a bit low quality.

As for the PSU, here's a tier list if you have the time: https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

You can also look on the labs website, but it's nice to cross-reference with the PSU tier list and vice versa.

I think I'll go for a SeaSonic Focus GX PSU just because they have nice-looking cables and are generally okay.

When planning a build, don't put it in a currency other than your own, as other nations pricing likely doesn't relate to your build.

I'd take a hard look at your storage. I wouldn't put an HDD in a system unless it was just for archiving, if you're gaming it should be off of an SSD; they're cheap enough that there's really no reason to skimp on this.

I wouldn't, the listed price is 0,00€ so I assume it's a part from the old pc

Look for a board that supports PCIe 5.0 for the gpu seeing how these latest AMD and Nvidia cards support PCIe 5.0.

The prices are listed in my local currency. The two parts shown as $0.00 are components I already own, which is why they have no price. The ($) was a mistake from an earlier version of the list.

All other parts that I still need to buy are listed in DKK.

Regarding the HDD: I know it's not sufficient on its own, and I’ve been looking at the Crucial P3 2TB M.2 SSD as an upgrade.

I’ve heard that some B650's might need a BIOS flash to be compatible with the 9000 series CPU. Is there any way to check in whether a board will need a BIOS update?
I don’t know anyone with a 7000 series CPU, so would it become too difficult to update the BIOS?

Is there a motherboard you would recommend that doesn’t break the budget and would be a better fit for this build?

As for the PSU, I’ll take a look at the tier list and the one from SeaSonic.
How many watts do you think a build like this needs?
I’m unsure whether I should go with 750W or 850W.

Makes sense, I'll look at a board with PCIe 5.0 support. Do you know if the board you suggested need a BIOS flash before being compatiable with the 9000 series CPU?

The PSU seems great and the price is pretty good.

Thank you

That particular board was released after the 9000 cpu series was released.

You can ask a local tech shop if they can update it for you but that will most likely cost you. You can update it yourself on a board which supports USB BIOS flashback - then you just need to put in the USB stick with the bios and press a button on the back of the motherboard.

I think you'll be good with either 750 or 850W, but since the difference is a couple euros at best I'd just go with the 850 and have a little room to spare.

Okay, seems a bit complicated. I might just go for a board that supports the 9000 series out of the box.
The difference in price can't be that substansial and it would same me some trouble.

Yea, you make a valid point. I will just go for a decent 850w PSU

Perfect. Then it should be compatiable with the 9000 cpu series.
