Hello I have a tuff 850 w gaming PSU that has a 12 VHPWR connect that ends with a 2x8pin for my gpu

This 9070xt needs 3x8 pcie so I was thinking on buying this cable for cablemod that should be compatible with my psu

https://eustore.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-basics-rt-series-12vhpwr-pci-e-cable-for-asus-and-seasonic/

But it seems that is designed to do the 12VHPWR on the Gpu side and the 3x8pcie on the psu side NOT the other way around

I'm wondering if it doesn't matter if I switch the cable one was or another, can anyone help ?

The ASUS TUF 850w should come with 3x8 pin PCIE power cables.

You dont need to buy anything else.

This is from the PSU's manual.

So in my PSU i have a 12VHPWR that splits into 2x8PCIE connector in the box its written that i have 3 more, (2 are for the cpu) 1 its only labelled pcie (also 1 pin is missing, is it normal ?)

1 pin missing is normal, different manufacturers lay out their pins in different ways on the PSU side.

Just to clarify, in your original post:

you mean that the card physically has 3x PCIe connectors on it correct? Since you have a PSU cable that directly feeds the PCIe outputs into a single 12v hpwr connector, you need to use a straight PCIe to PCIe connector.

based on what @Hinjima pointed out, this should be possible with the cables that came with your power supply, assuming you didn't throw them in the garbage and still have them packed away. All you need is one PCIe to PCIe cable, and one PCIe to 2x PCIe cable.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

So to make this clear I need to use the 12v hpwr for the first 2 pcie of my gpu and the 3rd is the Pcie that I sent in the picture ( also I was thinking that one was the one for the Atx 3.1... PCIE_PWR1 slot is also another 8pin Pcie)😮‍💨😮‍💨 I'm really confused

I think I am misunderstanding what you mean by this. Can you share the specific model of 9070 XT?

Thank you for confirming.

Just to be clear, on this setup, you do not need any 12v hpwr connectors at all, they won't have anywhere to go. Instead, what you need is 3x regular 8-pin power connectors, which should connect straight to the power supply. You got those with the power supply, correct? You should put the 12v hpwr into storage, because you won't have any use for it here.

Thanks for all the quick responses

Unfortunately it seems there is some misunderstanding on the pcies cable out of the box

I have 2x pcie to pcie ( for the CPU)

1x pcie to Pcie (I was thinking for the Atx 3.1?)

And the 1x 12v hpwr that splits into 2 pcies

Yes, you will use the 1x PCIE to PCIE power cable for the GPU and you will use the 1x 12vhpwer to 2x8 pin PCIE cables 🙂

This will fill all 3x8pin on your GPU.  This is the correct way.

I double checked the PSU's manual and pictures.

Wow thanks a lot ! You are an angel!

Do you any idea on how to connect this Atx 3.1 ? I have this slot empty at this point I have no more Pcies free ( I have Molex slot in my psu, maybe that's it ?)

The PCIE_PWR1 on the motherboard is entire optional and you dont need to use this.

This is very new on MSI Motherboards and is only for extreme use cases like running a 9950X and overclocked 5090.

What CPU are you using?

You don't have to use the 12VHCrap stuff

Your PSU has 3x Pcie connectors, use 2 of them, one with the 8pin to 8pin cable, the other with 1x 8pin to 2x 6+2 pins, so you got 3 connectors GPU side

Look closely on the connector of the PCIE 1-2x8pin.

The single connector is a 12vhpwr and not a single 8 pin.

Its a 12vhpwr to 2x8pin PCIE.

These are all the cables that come with the PSU.

If OP wants to use 3x8pin, the 12vhpwr to 2x8pin has to be used.

Ok my mistake

Got confused, the PSU has 3x Pcie connectors but comes with only 1 cable for them ... Not great

I see now, based on a pic of the product

@Raiden1701 does this picture match with the PSU you have? it's an odd design choice from Asus, but it looks like that 12 pin connector will be used after all. The 12VHPWR will be essentially plugged in backwards, I suppose.

Unfortunately this is getting way more common with newer PSUs that have the 12vHPWR/12v-2x6, but the TUF only having 3x CPU/PCIE (in total) takes it up another notch!
