GTX 1060 running portal (released on year 2007) can't maintain 120fps, hovering around 119, 118, 117, 120fps

Is it because the 8750H CPU is weak? I plan to let the graphics card Consistently outputs 120fps to 120hz TV BFI to 240fps to imitate the dynamic clarity of CRT

Use Intel PresentMon or MSI Afterburner to check GPU usage. Is it well below 100%?

i can't tell how much gpu usage when i launch portal

 

should i choose no sync and limit fps to 120 when gpu can consistenly render 120fps ?

how could a  120hz tv display 240fps when i feed 120hz signal ?

which one has better motion carity ,a real 240fps or 120fps plus black frame insertion?

Both of the tools I mentioned above have overlays you should be able to see while the game is running.

Limiting to 120 fps should have almost the same effect as V-Sync, except it could potentially lead to tearing. But you won't drop to half FPS if it misses the sync window.

If the TV is 120 Hz, it can't. If it does advertise 240 Hz, then it's probably some form of motion interpolation. Essentially a less sophisticated form of Frame Generation.

Assuming the TV does some form of interpolation, I would assume BFI is better.
