Occasionally I pretend to be “responsible” and I turn off the computer for the night while I “go to sleep”. While I’m “sleeping”, I notice that my computer turns on in the middle of the night. I had some issues where my computer turned off randomly while I was using it, I never was able to find out what was the problem but it hasn’t happened again. Another time I had pressed the power button but it didn’t turn on, I had to re-seat the power cable to the motherboard and that fixed that issue. Yesterday, it turned on randomly and had the time wrong it was 12:17 am but the computer said it was 9:55 pm. I am unsure what it could be. Help.

You're sure it's not a Windows update or a power outage/power surge?

I've had so many PITA issues with "sleep".  The gaming rig I was on kept randomly waking up and sometimes not at all.  The new one Would sleep and randomly wake up but still was drawing 12-15+ watts which is what it ides at even without sleeping!  I made it hibernate instead.  Windows doesn't want you to do that on AC though I had to regedit to get it to work...

Up until this point I just left the computer on, but I have everything running off batteries now I'm trying to extend the runtime.
