I have a google pixel 6, and about a month ago i dropped it perfectly on its face. I had a case so it didnt smash, but i think it caused the screen to dislodge/adhesive to come loose, causing the left side of my screen to hang off slightly. I had no trouble with it at all until recently. The other day my microphone stopped working suddenly, with no damage i can think of being done to it, but what I'm more concerned about is that the touch screen is going a bit dodgy.

The top half of the screen is acting weird, not responding to some inputs, and doing stuff on its own. I think it could be because i might have accidentally got hand sanitiser beneath the screen where the phone speaker is.

Should I just try and let it dry out (if it even can, since its a gel like hand sanitiser, not just water), or do i need to replace the screen, or even the entire phone? Could i let it sit in something like 99.9% isopropyl alcohol to let it clean it at least a bit, let it wash away the residue? Or would that damage it more?

isopropyl alcohol might not be the play 😄  getting it in between the screen layers will dissolve the adhesive even more then it already is

Ah ok, thanks. Its not an individual screen layer, but the entire thing. Like i can pull it up slightly and see inside the phone, the boards and a ribbon cable that i think connects the screen to the phone.

U could try to fully remove it then clean it as best as u can then reseat the connections and glue it back in with a fresh Display Adhesive from ifixit https://www.ifixit.com/products/google-pixel-6-display-adhesive-genuine but if the screen itself got damaged i would just buy a new phone since a pixel 6 used costs the same or even less then a new display ( in germany atleast )

Thanks, ill have a look and give it a think. Im not even sure i could clean it since im assuming it got between whatever layers there are. Ill give it a couple days and if it doesnt improve, ill try taking it apart.

That what i was kinda thinking as well, maybe ill just buy a new one, or just get a dumb phone to try that out, and keep this broke one for 2FA and the like. Since a pixel 6 is only £200 new on amazon for me now. Down from the original £600 it was listed as before it got discounted to ~£300 when i bought it in august 2023
