MSI MPG x870E EDGE TI WIFI can't see my NvME as boot drives?

Go to solution Solved by YoungBlade,

A BIOS update might help. The notes for BIOS version 7E59v1A2 says:

"Fix PCIE3 speed drop or device loss issue."

So apparently recognizing PCIe devices, which could include NVMe drives, was an issue on the launch BIOS.

hi!

i've recently built a new computer with:

ryzen 7 9800 x3d

2x 32gb gskill 6000 cl 30

brand new 2tb t-force z540

crucial p1 tb

my old boot drive a silicon power gen3 nvme

crucial 2tb ssd for backups

i run linux on my old drive and i've installed arch linux brand new on the t-force drive.

the main issue i have is that no matter what i tried the nvmes are detected in BIOS but when i go for the boot options are NOT there. the only way to make it "seen" as boot drive is to rebuild GRUB, however, the new installation is not seen at all, is this a BIOS issue which is resolved with BIOS updates? i built it in the late evening and the only option i didn't try at all is the BIOS update

i use Arch (Btw™) but i will not bother you with the linux is better then windows war ❤️

i don't remember if it's a thing since my last motherboard was EOL, i have to go through bios updates 1 by 1 right? they are not "cumulative" in the meaning that i can have the very first bios and flash the latest

No, they are typically cumulative. Generally, you're able to go directly to the latest BIOS. If you need to install a previous BIOS first, it should be listed in the release notes. Looking through the notes here, I'm not seeing any that say they require a previous BIOS to be installed first, so you should be good to go to the latest one.
