Hello all, my first time posting here.

I'm upgrading to a 6950XT and the minimum PSU spec is 700W according to TechPowerUp.

My current PSU is a Corsair CX750M which has served me great for almost 10 years but that means I am a bit out of the loop when it comes to modern PSUs.

I would prefer to stick with Corsair as I've only had good experience with them and a Modular PSU would be ideal.

I'm looking for any PSU 1000W (or more, depending on reliability and price, but over 1000W is not a "must have" right now) that can support this.

My setup is:

Gigabyte B550 Gaming X

Ryzen 5 3600

TUF UD4-3200 2x 8GB DDR4

and (currently) RX 580 4GB (please don't ask why 😇)

Any suggestions would be welcome,

Thank you.

It seems that your current PSU should be fine. The 6950XT uses a maximum of ~340W, while the CPU will not use more than 88W.

AMD Ryzen™ 5 5600g w/ Radeon Graphics | 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM | 256GB NVME SSD + 2TB HDD | Amazon Basics 2.0 Speakers

Should be fine on the CX700W with AM4 CPU, it doesn't draw that much, both components average 400W+ of course with headroom for spikes and other stuff to the remaining ~300-200W of the 700W PSU.

5080 can run on 850W, if the price jump is huge I wouldn't push for 1000W, unless you're sure you're gonna get something much more powerful like a 4090+
