Hello everyone, I´ve been having this wierd problem for quite some time with my GPU and I have been blaming it on the drivers (and maybe that is the case). It occurs while playing some games more than others(particularly war thunder and Cs2)

I'm playing normally and at random (not at a particularly demanding part of the gameplay) my monitor goes black, then the blacklight comes up with the typical sign indicating HDMI input has been connected, and the GPU fans stop spinning, if I reset my PC the driver for the GPU is disabled.

I have tracked this problem for a while and recently I discovered the base clock of the card in MSI afterburner is 2739 Mhz, note that the frezuency shown is after pressing the "default" button on MSI and discarding any changes made/restarting etc. Underclocking the GPU seems to solve the problem. The thing is the actual boost frequency for the card is 2491 Mhz, base clock 2044 Mhz and so it's evident to me that the GPU might crash once in a while if you take it almost 250 Mhz over its limit.

Now the problem is, how do I get the card to normal frequency again? Changing the frequency in MSI afterburner works for a few days until it gets rolled back (Power outage? GPU driver update?) and I don't know any other way of tinkering with a GPU clock config. Formatting is the next logical step but I wanted to post this here beforehand in the case somebody has had a similar issue.

My specs:

Is it a used card? Might have a BIOS from a different card that defaults higher.
