Finally got my RTX 5090 FE and it is really disappointing in benchmarks (35K in Port Royal). I know Splave made a video with LTT how software optimizations, I wanted to know if it exists in written form.

Current rig :

- Fractal Design Torrent
- Ryzen 9950X3D with PBO, boosts up to 5.725GHz

- Thermalright Assassin King SE 120

- Corsair 32 GB (2x16) 6000MT/S, CL30

- ASrock X870E Nova Wifi
- SN770 2TB * 2
- RTX 5090 FE

- Fractal Design Ion+ 2 Platinum 860W

If you're using Edge, I suppose you could use Copilot to summarize the video if the video has captions. 🙂

Is it all stock? Just default setting and hitting run in the benchmark? A stock FE (the hottest running model) and the overclocked to within an inch of its life chilled water cooled Astral is going to perform vastly different. Are you expectations set correctly? 3DMarks leaderboards are going to be dominated by heavily overclocked results.

I'm not sure this was an ideal pairing, TBH.

You want GPU overclocking, not PC optimization.

Various guides show how to tweak a 5090.  You need MUCH better cooling to get a noticeable improvement.

You may be running into power issues too, so be aware when you change things.

So the FE is shite in terms of cooling ?

No, they're all shit for cooling.  You can only cool 600w+ so well, with 3 fans.  You simply cannot dissipate that much heat from such a small area well enough, the cards perform as they perform.

Get a liquid cooled model, or build a custom loop, if you want to bump a level of performance.

Your PSU may be light too, 860w isn't giving the 5090 a lot of room to push itself.  Especially when they can use 600w+ alone.

Plus a 200+(?)W CPU, youve minimal headroom to run...everything else...if those are both running full tilt

Would like to see temps, clockspeeds and power usage under an OCCT or Cinebench all-core test for 5+ minutes. A little single tower is really pushing it for a 200W+ CPU.
