Hi guys!
I could use some help with my plan to upgrade/build my PC. It has served me well but I think it's finally time to upgrade
My current rig:

- i5 8600k on a Z-370 P ASUS motherboard

- ASUS 1060 6GB

- 16GB DDR4 3600 CL16 Ballistix

- A PSU that is enough for the above (If I recall it was a super cheap off brand one; bought from a builder, no choice was given, I am aware it has to be changed)

- Samsung 970 EVO 1TB

- 1440p monitor and a 1080p additional screen

1440p gaming is not the best, but doable on this little monster (as long as you don't mind lowering the settings in "demanding" games like war thunder)

I would love to buy a whole new system and just transfer the SSD to it, repurposing the current one as a DIY NAS solution, but I am working on a budget.

I was thinking of upgrading only the GPU and PSU for now, as the GPU is the most expensive and most impactful in gaming (AFAIK)

The goal is to play games like Cyberpunk, Oblivion Remastered, Monster Hunter, Horizon 5, Death Stranding 2, Elden Ring and some of the other big triple A titles from the last few years, as well as, obviously, future proofing the PC so it can serve me another 7 years (Whisful thinking)

Here is a quick roundup of GPUs that I have been considering, with the price converted into USD:
- INNO3D RTX 5070 Ti X3 OC – 1010 USD (3 763 PLN)

- GIGABYTE RTX 5070 Windforce OC – 672  USD (2 499 PLN)

- POWERCOLOR RX 9070 XT Reaper – 806 USD (2 999 PLN)

- XFX Swift RX 9070 OC – 747 USD (2 779 PLN)

- SAPPHIRE RX 9060 XT OC 16GB – 481 USD (1 789 PLN)

These are all new, second hand woulkd be possible in theory but based on some surface level reserach, used GPUs are selling at close to new prices, so I would rathjer buy new if the difference is at best 5-10% cheaper when used and older gen.

As for the PSU, I was considering a Corsair RMx 850 or 750 W, depending on what is currently on a discount, preferably a SHIFT model if the price difference is small.

Would 750-850W be enough for these GPUs if I upgrade the CPU and motheboard to an AM5 down the line?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

I would say the 9070 xt 16gb or the 5070 ti 16gb for the gpu, they are pretty similar in performance. if you do get a shift model corsair psu make Sure you have a wide enough cpu basement because the connections are on the side not the back.

EDIT: im currently playing Elden ring on a 1060 6gb with a 1080p monitor and its really playable for how old the card is. I am currently trying to beat rennala's second phase.

If performance is very similar I guess I would aim for the 9070xt in that case.

Though, is the 5070 12GB far enough in performacne to justify the extra approx. 130 USD price of the 9070XT?

Also, how do the 90 series RX cards perform in older titles? From time to time I will play stuff like GTA:SA or FarCry for some nostalgia.

Would drivers be a problem?

the 5070 isn't as good because of the performance difference and less vram so for that price difference the 5070 isn't worth it. the 90 series amd gpus can play older games.

What settings are you on?

I guess I could also run it pretty reliably played 1080p but it would feel slightly wasteful for me to just have the 1440p screen and not use it in full potential

medium settings hitting the 60 fps cap of the game, and from the benchmarking videos I've seen it can still do a little over 40 fps at the high settings but I haven't tested it
