I have a older laptop and I'd play light games and (Stardee Valley, Minecraft on lower settings) and please let me know if these settings will help me put with battery life.

Lowering the screen res to ~900P or 800P

VSync on or a 30FPS limit when possible

But anything else I can do to help out the battery?
It's a old 2015 mac

Are u running macos or windows ? Not a 100% sure if its possible on macbooks but u could try to undervolt the cpu a bit to reduce power draw also since its from 2015 u could also replace the battery if its never been done before that would prob give u the most amount of extra playtime

Its in macos 12, and yeah battery is something definitely worth doing. Its at like 370 cycles and can get me like an hour or two off the charger.

I would focus on a battery replacement i think that will give u by far the biggest boost overall and then if its possible undervolting can also save a decent amount of power on those intel chips but not sure if its possible on mac os i am a bit of a noob in terms of macos haha

Thanks I'll look into that, hopefully I can undervolt it a little while on battery because a battery replacement is like $120

Dim the brightness of the screen as much as possible.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

Yep. With how brightness works, 50% brightness actually draws way less than 50% of the panel's total power draw as we don't perceive brightness linearly and going higher requires exponentially more power, I believe LTT tested the impact of various things on a laptop's battery life such as screen brightness and reducing that from 100% to 50% brought quite the improvement while further lowering to 0% didn't improve it quite as much
