I'm upgrading from:
R3 3100

GTX 1650

16GB RAM
to:
R7 5700X3D

9060 XT 16GB

32GB RAM

I'm keeping the B550 MB I have and 1TB M.2 SSD.

Should I update BIOS? Clear SSD?

Until now I've never upgraded only used new systems so I don't know if the components I'm keeping will be "plug and play" with the new ones.

What version is it now? You need to make sure it has support for the new CPU prior to the upgrade or it may just boot into a black screen.

Not necessary.

That will be an incredible uplift in performance.

You most likely have to update the BIOS if you have never done this previously.  You can keep the SSD and it should be fine without clearing it.

You should use DDU to uninstall the Nvidia drivers and do a fresh Radeon GPU driver install.

What PSU do you have?

I have A S12III Seasonic 550W, but I'm changing it to a ASUS TUF GAMING 650 Bronze

Yes, just checked the MB box when I bought it.

Alright, yep!

Just so weird because your BIOS says BIOS Version FD and I can't find that BIOS version on the Rev 1.4.

I can find the FD BIOS version on the 1.2/1.3 and 1.5.  Rev 1.0/1.1 and 1.4 does not have the FD BIOS.

I would recommend you to update the BIOS before installing the 5700X3D anyways.

Question is, what BIOS do we download.

I was checking that aswell, I guess there's some compatability with previous revision BIOS versions.
I would try to use the 1.4 ones. Should I ?

Good!  I like when people asking for help also do their own research! Makes it much easier 🙂

I would say yes, try to download the latest BIOS for the Rev 1.4

Have you ever updated a BIOS before?

No, would be my first time.

I've seen it be done on YT and know the potential risks.

considering the security issues discovered in the last two weeks that apparently effect almost all AMD CPU's and they have released updates as recently as yesterday, anyone with an AMD CPU should take a look at AMD's site and the manufacturer of their specific motherboard for updates.

Also a lot of these updates address other recent issues.

usually you can't install the gpu drivers if a compatible gpu isn't detected.
