Cloned Boot Drive (SATA SSD) To 3.5'' HDD = Need To Switch Back To IDE Mode To Boot Up ?

hi,

so my current boot drive is a SATA SSD (on AHCI mode).......i also have another identical SSD as a clone (which i clone to weekly)..........i just found my old 3.5'' HDD (from 2011) from my old PC - i managed to clone my SSD boot drive to this old HDD..............so do i need to switch back to IDE mode for the HDD to boot up ?.......this HDD was on IDE mode in my old PC.......馃

You shouldn't have to, no.

But why would you want to boot off a mechanical hard drive at all? It's聽highly聽unlikely that both your SSDs will die at the same time, the only scenario I can think of that would press a tertiary boot device into service.聽Keep it as an offline system image repository.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
