Budget (including currency): 2000 Australian dollars

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I am currently getting into sim racing heavily and currently play on 1080p 240hz but want to upgrade to 1440p.

I also do some video and photo editing, and would like to do this on a desktop instead of a MacBook.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I currently have a computer that works, but it is becoming outdated.

I do not care heavily about aesthetics, but obviously, it does hold some power.

I am not the best at putting together a parts list, which people will probably clearly point out, but I do enjoy the building process. So, any feedback on how I can improve this parts list for 1440p high refresh rate gaming would be appreciated.

I did try and build a computer last year but never got around to fully putting together a parts list.

Price currently around $1900 so there is alittle bit of room to play with :).

Thank you

Price currently around $2100 which is ok but would rather closer to 2000 flat or below :).

Thank you

Hey there! Awesome to see a fellow simracer 🙂  I have been simracing for over 20 years myself.

How about something like this?

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/Gyqk3w

Its a much faster system for lower price, the ryzen 7600 is basically just as fast as a 9600x.

850w is overkill PSU for this build but I do like a Corsair RMx so I will keep it in the list, a solid 650w would do though.

Check the difference between the 4060 you picked and a 9060 XT at 1440p.

Thank you! You can call me silly, but is there any other GPU that is similar in performance to the 9700xt for a similar price and with experience, all I have had are issues with AMD GPUs. I do understand that they have probably fixed a lot of the issues I have had.

Understood 🙂  The closest Nvidia card would be the 5060 Ti 16gb but it IS significantly more expensive than the 9060 XT.

I have had AMD cards in the past and I have had some issues with them as well.  At this time I would feel comfortable owning and AMD card actually, they have improved so much and Nvidia has had a bit of issues with the RTX 5000 series.. Especially the higher end RTX 5000.

Another option is to look at the used market and pick up an RTX 4070 Super or something.

That dual tower cpu cooler isn't going to clear that RGB RAM due to the tall heatsinks. Look for a gpu with more VRAM.
