Hey guys, I’m running into game breaking issues in both Call of Duty and Red Dead Redemption 2, and I’ve noticed other games are crashing sometimes to

Hey everyone,

I’ve been dealing with some really annoying issues across multiple games, and I’m starting to wonder if there’s something wrong with my system.

Specs:
CPU: i9-14900K
GPU: ASUS TUF RTX 4090
Motherboard: ROG Maximus Z690 EVA
RAM: 32GB DDR5
OS: Windows 11
Cooling: AIO on top (3 exhaust), 3 bottom intakes, 2 side exhausts, 1 rear exhaust
Temps usually stay under 70°C

What’s going on:

In COD (BO6), the game runs fine during matches but always crashes when the match ends and it tries to go back to the main menu. Sometimes it’s a DirectX error (0x887A0005), other times just a generic crash popup.

In RDR2, things start off normal, but after a while NPCs freeze, the menu won’t open, and textures bug out. Happens with both Vulkan and DX12.

Other games crash every now and then too not as often, but enough to notice something’s off.

What I’ve already tried:
• Clean GPU driver install with DDU (currently on 552.22)
• Shader cache set to 10 GB (was on Driver Default before)
• Disabled On-Demand Texture Streaming in COD
• Disabled Resizable BAR
• Virtual memory is system managed on all drives
• Reinstalled both COD and RDR2
• BIOS reset + turned off Intel Dynamic Tuning
• Set Intel default settings to “Performance” instead of “Extreme”

My questions:
1. Could my fan setup or airflow be causing issues?
2. Is this pointing to a driver, BIOS, or maybe even a hardware issue?
3. Has anyone else had crashes like this across multiple games?

I didn’t have these issues a few months ago, and now it feels like everything’s slowly falling apart. Would appreciate any input — I’m out of ideas at this point.

It could be signs of a degrading cpu, you know about Intel Raptor lake degradation right?

What microcode version have you been running on? Intel released a new microcode 0x12F. But even if you update now that won't fix the cpu.

If you've been running 0x12B, was it autumn 2024 it was released? It could have still gotten permanent degradation damages. Especially if your pc has been going idle for long long times if one is to belive Intel's release notes.

I'm going to point you to this thread.

Now of course it could be something else.

But you've already tried several things so thought maybe it could be this
