If you've been having issues, maybe check this recent update, been out for a couple weeks, you probably need to manually apply this update;

"The May 2025 optional update, released on an unusual Wednesday, includes a crucial fix for games becoming unresponsive or hanging."

"The regular end-of-month update does not contain any security fixes, but instead focuses on bug fixes and user experience improvements. Two of the changes are directly related to the gaming experience — they affect memory and graphics kernel performance."

But isn't that a preview update, those "beta" updates released before the regular monthly patch tuesday update?

If so then the one that was released 10th June should contain the same fixes? If you've installed the 10th June update you shouldn't be offered the preview update that was before it.

It also say at the end:

With the release of KB5058499, Windows 11 24H2 seems to be shaping up to be a stable and reliable platform for gaming (fingers crossed). While it's an optional update for now, all its fixes are slated to be rolled out to all users with the June 2025 Patch on June 10.

So to be clear, I assume no responsibility concerning news posts, just trying to relay info to a community that may not otherwise see it.

(how many 16 year olds have news feeds?). Plus these were initially optional updates, MAYBE rolled into an auto-update.

Microsoft has been kinda weird concerning game specific updates. The other day read that they are rolling out an update incrementally, or only to certain platforms, then to others, etc.

Essentially they want to wait and see if it fixes or fucks stuff.

Please don't hold my feet to the fire over any inconsistencies about this stuff.

Am I supposed to do ALL the legwork?

Oh no I didn't mean to flame you. I myself first got confused as to why I haven't it installed, then saw it was a preview update.

I usually skip preview updates since they are a larger risk to mess up something with Windows. (We didn't pay a license to be their beta testers.)

Even the June 10th update came with problems for those having Easy Anti-Cheat installed, and a hotfix came out the day after. Something like that shouldn't happen with the monthly tuesday patch, but Microsoft Q&A is what it is....

Anyway everyone with Windows 11 24H2 and updates enabled should have whatever fixes is in it, since it's also in the monthly patch tuesday update and those are always mandatory.

No offense taken.

it seems Ms and Nvidia have been kind of chicken-shit with updates as they constitute an admission of error on their part.

My last check was confusing as it seemed MS was once again using the consumer base as the Beta-testers.

This "new methodology" of releasing new products F*****g sucks in my opinion.

I understand the logic and logistics, but it still sucks to spend hard earned $$$ only to be an unpaid tester of new tech.

I'll be damned if I'm gonna shell out $100+ for an O.S., $750+ for a CPU or $1500+ for a new GPU just so AMD, Nvidia, Microsoft or Intel can harvest my end user experience as what should be PRE-RELEASE product testing!

It's only going to get worse due to the lack of competition and the big boys racing to outdo one another.

More shit is gonna hit the pipeline, I guarantee.

Ok...rant over, but am I wrong?

Yeah, Windows has literally become little more than a malware OS.

This whole bullcrap about hardware security requirements for Win 11 is an attempt to recoup losses from folks using Windows 10/11 for free, but that's a topic for a whole other discussion; "Microsoft and their answers to piracy over the years". Future thread may be appearing soon.

BUT don't be fooled, all modern tech companies are using you and I as test monkeys.

I see a trend where the big boys are just going to push shit out simply in order to be the "first to market" , fuck the consumer.

Can't wait to see all the problems with the CPU's AMD is releasing this month.
