Phone No Longer Charges with Any Long Cables? Short Cables fine.

I have a 6 foot cable I charge with for years, using the factory samsung travel wall charger.

Now when I connect it, the charging time says like 3 hours and 50 mins, and there's a pop up that there is a problem with the connection or whatever. Super slow.

 

I tried a new samsung charger, new wall outlet, and new 6 foot cable. Same issue. BUT As soon as I switch to the factory 1.5 foot short cable, it charges normally.  Any idea whats going on?  Do I need a higher quality Long cable due to its age? it can not pull the charge through that length?

3 years old.

 Have never used wireless charging or even fast charging since day 1. And kept battery protection on since day 1 (so 80% chargin limit)

What quality of cable are you using? Could be what you suggest.

 

Do you have any other long cable to test?  Like I use my Steamdeck charger for my wife's Iphone 15, works great.

 

Otherwise borrow a friends quality cable and test.

I don't recall  bought it a while ago  but what's strange is it's worked fine for 3 years. The new one was generic Amazon.

 

I'll try to find a new high quality cable though. 

Do you have any recommendations, would a $10 Anker one work? 6 foot.

I like Anker stuff, it's decent 

 

Could be anything.   Did you change a setting related to battery?  Did the port get torqued ?   It's just an odd thing.

Have you cleaned the USB-C port?

Not that I know of.

What's weird is that shorter cords are fine though.

Yeah I tried with air duster and small brush.

That won't do. Maybe a toothpick or something other a bit harder than a brush?

Okay I gave that a shot. But if the port being dirtyt was the issue, wouldn't the short cords also be having trouble charging?

Shorter = less resistance = able to provide more power.

 

Try charging and use the app Ampere to see the amperage it's charging at.
