Which resolution ? Which games ?

You'll gain a lot in competitive FPS at 1080p, but not much in AAA games at 4K...

The better comparison would be the 5700X3D vs the 9800X3D...

The two CCD's on the 9900X3D can be a hindrance unless you do some tweaking.

9900X3D has 2x 6 cores, vs 1x8 on 9800X3D, that can lead to less performance because of the extra load needed for the two CCD to communicate together

Sorry, was busy!  Thanks to @PDifolco for answering.

9800X3D would be the best AM5 Gaming CPU.

The 9950X3D is similar in performance but significantly more expensive.

But you can also add PBO and overclock a 9800X3D so it would most likely beat the 9950X3D with PBO.

Understood 🙂

For gaming the ''NZXT KRAKEN ELITE 240 RGB Black'' will be fine.

During heavy gaming my overclocked 9800X3D sits between 80-105w so it doesn't draw much power.

I am able to cool my 9800X3D with a DeepCool AK620 with a constant 30% fan speed so the 9800X3D doesn't require much cooling either.

I just think that the NZXT KRAKEN ELITE 240 RGB Black is very expensive for a 240mm AIO.

You can get 360mm AIO's that are cheaper.  If you have the space of course.

Reason?

The 9950X3D is 227 dollars more expensive for exactly the same gaming performance.

What a waste.

Because there is more to computing than gaming, but that depends on you I guess.

If windows is configured properly, windows will choose the correct CCD.

On my CPU games run on the first CCD, where my fastest cores are, and spreads out if needed I reckon.

9950X3D has superior clocks compared to 9800X3D, by a lot.

Even my 9900X rocks the 9800X3D in clock speed, by more than half a GHz. Makes things nice and snappy.

Sure... But if OP's use case is purely gaming then there is no need to go beyond a 9800X3D.

The 227 dollars could be spent elsewhere.

Its not all about clock speeds you know and 3DV-Cache helps A LOT in gaming.

I would still say that 5.25Ghz on a 9800X3D is snappy enough lol.  There will be no noticeable difference between your 9900x and 9800X3D in 'snappyness'.

My personal 9800X3D is at 5.6Ghz anyways.

9800X3D owns the 'snappier 5.7Ghz 9950X'
