Hey everyone, my friend gave me this GPU and I don't remember the model, but I think it's 3070 or 3080 that comes with HP prebuilts. I cant seem to determint the type of power connector this is(image attached)

Its identical to a 12vhpwr connector but its lacking the sense pins it looks like.

I have this power supply, would it connect to this? Or do I need to get a new one?

This PSU will not have the required cables to connect.

Its also a very very bad PSU and should be replaced immediately.

That's the 12 pin power connector Nvidia used on 3000 series cards. It should have came with a 12pin to PCIe adapter cable that lets you plug two 8 pin PCIe cables in to the adapter cable. Ask your friend if he still has the cable. If you can't get it from your friend you will need to buy a new adapter cable. Search retailers for "12 pin to dual 8 pin PCIe". Will probably cost around $10-$20 for a basic adapter cable.

The 12VHPWR / 12V-2x6 cable is backwards compatible with the Nvidia 12-pin cable - though clearance might be an issue on the connector. Looking at your photo it looks like the PCB of the graphics card would block the sense pins and prevent you from fully inserting the connector. Try to get an adapter with the original Nvidia 12-pin connector and not the 12VHPWR/12V-2x6 connector.

I was actually about to tag you because I looked up a similar answer by you in August 2022 for a similar question.

I would still recommend @ibymoiz to change that power supply, its not good at all.
