After recent Chrome updates I keep randomly getting "virus warnings" when downloading mods from Nexus... usually it's "this file doesn't get downloaded often so we blocked it lol!"  LMAO

The problem is, when downloading several mods this is often not easily noticeable, so you end up downloading like 20 mods, receive only like 15 tho... so you gotta go through downloads and find the not finished downloads to manually download them... that's not only annoying and time consuming, it also messes up the order of downloaded mods, which is often important (ie "add-ons")

(Firefox too btw, exact same thing "this file doesn't get downloaded often....)

I mean bro, it just got uploaded of course it didn't get downloaded often and what kind of effed up algorithm is that anyway?! 😂

And today windows defender gives me this... It might be old, but why now and where's the file? It's not there... What? Why?

Additionally I can't remember having downloaded that, "SB_demo" ... What kind of mod is that supposed to be?? 🤔

Are there any "reliable" AVs left? What about browsers?

(Btw obvious high security risk, if you get like 15(+) false positives per day, chances of actually downloading a malicious file rise exponentially,as you'd have to assume, "AI gone crazy"... AGAIN 🙃

Hi Ayhan, if the file no longer exists, then it has been remediated. It's likely that what you are seeing is a bug, where Windows Defender flags things because of their presence in detection history.

To resolve the issue, delete the DetectionHistory folder from:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Service\DetectionHistory

Note:To see the ProgramData folder and subfolders,  make sure you are showing hidden files and folders.

- Windows 10: In File Explorer, select the View tab > check (tick) Hidden items

- Windows 11: In File Explorer, select View > Show > check Hidden items

Then restart your computer.

Oh thanks, yeah I dl that but thought it was stupid and deleted it right away lol...

I mean I'm just noticing this because it *very* rarely happened with Nexus mods, now it's basically all the time, and it's just dumb because usually it's just textures... You'd think AVs would be able to figure that out, plus Nexus is usually safe (yeah ik like 1 in a million or so can actually be malicious)
