Im about to start uni, and will need to use half my money and half financial aid for a laptop. One of my test requires 7 gigs of ram for whatever reason…

I’m just looking for 16 gigs of ram, 512 or more on storage, 1080p or more display, and for any games to run well at default settings.

I’d also like to do some light game development on the side in case my major doesn’t work out.

The ones I had an eye on are sold out near me or online. I’d really appreciate help

if your work dosent depend on any windows specific applications then go for a macbook air, they are the best when it comes to price to performance and they are perfect for college students. id suggest you to snag a macbook air m2 from best buy or any other popular sellers, on best buy you can grab one for 650 on average. I am aware that youre asking for a laptop with atleast 16gb ram, well macos is quite good at managing ram you wouldnt have any trouble getting your work done. plus you want to try out game development, the air might get the work done but not very quickly.

TL;DR
Get a macbook air m2

This might be harder than you think - most gaming-focused laptops in this price range have pretty low-end GPUs, usually with less than 8GB of VRAM, which is the bare minimum to run the most demanding games these days.

What kind of games are you hoping to run on this laptop?

I'm having more fun than you 😠
