Yes, I've changed the title of the linked video to BOINC, since the video actually relates to Mac gaming through Rosetta 2.

But it got me thinking, what about all the BOINC projects using Rosetta 2 to run on Mac.

Maybe this will be the thing that finally makes, at least the big BOINC projects, optimize their projects natively for Apple Silicon.

And yes, there will still be some BOINC projects available with native support, even if Rosetta 2 gets discontinued in general, besides for gaming, as the video explains, but still, It would just be such a big hit to BOINC on Apple Silicon, since the smaller projects don't have the knowledge, money, or ressources necessary to do the work required to add native Apple SIlicon support to their applications.

What do you all think of this potential issue?

Im surprised they supported Intel based Macs for as long as they did. I currently have a 2020 MacBook Pro (Intel). Im utterly impressed. As far as Rossetta 2 goes, well it was going to happen eventually. Im pretty sure they pulled support for it in certain parts of the world. Developers have had 5 years to get their act together. Apple is finally giving them a deadline.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Yes, but again, these projects are so small and have such limited ressources, that they cannot do this themselves, and unlike games and other software, BOINC projects serve a "higher" purpose, supporting science, math, and health research, so this would actually be the place to make an expection, instead of Mac gaming, if only one could be chosen.

Rosetta 2 was never a permanent solution. It is what it is. Apple has such a small market share in the computer industry, I doubt that many will be effected.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
