The title sounds rather straightforward but it isn't. 😕
I have two monitors: LG 27GN65R (main) and LG 29UM68-P (secondary). The power/input button on the 29UM68-P broke (fully, including the little clover looking things), so I always kept it on. I recently got the 27GN65R which supports HDR and wanted to switch it from using my old DisplayPort cable to the HDMI it came with to try it out. Since the 29UM68-P was using the only HDMI port on my GPU, I tried changing its input via software (ControlMyMonitor).

The "Input Source" field didn't list any possible values like I saw on guides and stuff, so I tried a forum suggestion to try 0–32. I set it to 18 (maximum value), and now the monitor turns on, is recognized by Windows, but displays nothing. It briefly shows "HDMI 1" on startup, but no signal even with HDMI 1 connected.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do fix this or if I need to take it somewhere.

PC Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: EVGA RTX 3060TI
RAM: 16GB 3200
PSU: 750W

Welcome to the forums!
I can't tell, have you tried just plugging in the HDMI and unplugging the DP? Most monitors will autodetect input and switch. Might need a power cycle to get it to work.

Thanks,

I tried a few times but the monitor doesn't automatically switch. It shows that the a cable is connected, whether its HDMI 1/2 or displayport , then says press ok to automatically switch.

I have no button to press though.

A couple of suggestions.

1. HDMI splitter cable.

2. HDMI to USB adapter. Or you could buy an entire cable, but the adapter is cheaper and you already have the cable.

Why would you need a HDMI to USB adapter?

@dee_kay If you have no luck switching the input to HDMI via software, then you'll get a hold of a HDMI-DP adapter (or cable).

HDMI and DP are both digital signals, so a passive adapter should be all you need.

Bummer.
At this point you could try a DP to HDMI cable. Or you could repairing the button if you have access to a soldering iron.
Also, you could just use a DP cable, it will work just as well.
