I'd return them and let them ewaste them.

You can make a server out of one of them if you want (but do you even need or have use for one?), but the tech is a decade old.  If you're not into retro stuff, nor had a use for any of it, not sure why you took it.

It's really not that good.

DVD drives? 2 of them? I'd say add at least 2TBs of storage and turn it into a CD & DVD ripping machine.

Already doing that on my main machin, Alas it only has one drive, so I guess technically I could put a third drive in it

From pics only cool part is front panel which you could keep as is and scrap rest. I'm in boat where I don't grab things just because I can and then wonder what to do with them. But since you already know what you want to do with it, why ask us?

I don't think the 3rd Gen Intel platform supports asymmetrical dual-channel, so I'd actually either pull one stick and have a 2x2gb dual-channel setup, or go track down a 2x4GB kit at least. I'd also put a SATA SSD in there, that platform should support SATA 6Gb/s on at least a few of the ports.

That platform *should* run a Minecraft Java server without too much issue, I've run them on older platforms but to be fair those were older versions. As far as it doubling-up as a NAS, your best bet will probably be some version of Linux if you're going to attempt that, if you're only going to run 2x2GB ram you're going to want a lightweight OS anyway.

Im not too familiar with the server space, and I didnt know if it was possible to do both on one machine, plus I always welcome other ideas that I may not have come up with. I didnt upload the other side panels because they had some information on them thats just a bit more personal than Id like to post

It does work, but stability is not fully guaranteed. (ran 12 GB comprised of 3x 4GB on a 3770 in a HP something office PC for a while)

English is not my first language, so please excuse any confusion or misunderstandings on my end, also I like to edit my posts a lot.

You could turn it into a NAS server for storage. Or you could use it as a remote PC (if you have extra monitors) so you can connect to your main computer from the E-Waste ones. By the way, those specs aren't bad considering it's free.

What are your current server specs? Just making sure it won't be a downgrade!

My gaming rig, Im luck to only have to boot up the “server” software whenever I need to do monitoring or adjust settings. But itd be nice to have 100% uptime on it

the gaming rig is a core i9 12900k

msi ventus 2x 3060 12gb

32gb 6000mhz ddr5

You could try using it as a plex server or a retro game emulator.

Your free PC would probably make a fine server with good uptime then
