a friend of mine has a really old pc and i found this cpu for cheep. got it and i forgot to see if it will work on that board. its the same socket but ya lga 1151 was out forever and they did a lot with it. i looked up that board but and i dont see the cpu it on the list. but other places i google its saying it will work with a bios update. any help would be great. just trying to help my friend hell dive with more then 15 fps no joke. ( i3 8100 )

No, its not compatible. The 6700k series is only compatible with 100 and 200 series boards.

No, the 6700k will not work in a Gigabyte H310M-A Motherboard.

Only Intel 8th and 9th gen are compatible with that motherboard.

You can technically mod the BIOS of a 300 series motherboard to work with a 1151v1 CPU and vice versa (100/200 series motherboard with a 1151v2 CPU), but this is not official and not really worth doing. Not when you get cheap CPUs on the 300 series motherboard that don't need any modding.
