I recently bought a MSI 5080 ventus off of eBay brand new everything sealed. I received the package today and once I unboxed it I noticed the heatsink was completely bent. Spending $1,400 on a product you expect it to be perfect. I am wondering what I should do. Will this have any affect on the GPU as a whole?IMG_5478.thumb.jpeg.1b4e6be321343b675ea953139a2ac577.jpeg

Yeah, that doesn't look too good.

From experience, its not going to affect cooling at all and if the PCB is straight and no other damage has been done, its most likely fine!  It just looks a bit wonky.

Can we have some more pictures from different angles please?

I would still try to return it even if it works.

Thank you for your reply. I am leaning towards returning although I do agree that I think it won’t have any affect on performance.

No Problem 🙂

The PCB looks straight and it would probably work but who knows what would happen with the fans or capacitors once they heat up that might have gotten quite the knock.

Its also unacceptable to get a product this way.. 1400 dollars or not.  Its damaged.

Send it back.  These things do happen unfortunately and this time it was you.

Hopefully you will have a much better experience getting another 5080.

Is the box bent or damaged? Was it purchased as a brand new card? Out of curiosity why purchase it off of eBay over getting one from another retailer?

Regardless I'd return it as not just the heatsink is damaged the backplate and fan shroud is also bent. The card has clearly been dropped when removed from the box or the box was crushed in transit.

That’s the thing everything was factory sealed original wrap and everything. Box has no damage at all. It was shipped in bubble wrap. Bought it off of ebay because I saved $50 which now I’m regretting.

Especially for a 1000+ $ product.

Lesson learned.  $50 is definitely a 'premium' I would pay extra to get something this expensive from a reputable store.

I dont care if its a 150 dollar product or 1000 dollar product.

If I buy a 190 dollar motherboard and it comes bent, I want a refund or a new product.

I did buy a cheap face shield mask thing with hearing protection for when I use the lawnmower / edge trimmer, it was 17 dollars.

It came in 4 parts and I had to assemble it, never seen such garbage haha. Thats on me though 😄

I would definitely pay twice or triple that for a good product but they were sold out.

Yeah, but my reasoning is just that "premium priced products" being shipped like this is lowkey unacceptable.

Cheap products aren't always fragile, aren't always concerned with fast delivery, can't really spend disproportionate amount of money on shipping a cheap product. (if the company pays shiping)

Pricey products? Make the big bucks = send it on a nice stable platter or do some precautions instead of completely trusting that courier "won't exceed forces upon the package greater than 7 ft/s²(~1 m/s²)" = avoid wasting everyone's time and your own money with "stupid" things like bent package because delivery wasn't careful enough for some reason.

Just to update everyone seller was very cool understood what happened and instantly accepted the return. I honestly don’t think it was his fault there was no damage on the box everything was factory sealed and it was bubble wrapped. Just unlucky but time to buy a new GPU. Regret not buying a prebuilt lol.
