What are these features on my 5080?

I haven't built a pc in over 10 years, so my intel on hardware is obsolete. Decided to build this one and went with the, ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 OC Edition. I have looked through the literature and searched online but can't really find an answer. I was just curious, what the bios switch on the edge is for and the 2 "fan1 - fan2" plugs are for? Sorry for the noob question, but I can't find an answer. Thanks.

The switch is to go between performance and silent BIOS.  Silent BIOS favoring higher temperature with lower fan noise.

It will say P-Mode and Q-Mode ( Performance mode and Quite mode )

The fan headers are there so you have easy access to 2 more fan headers for case fans for example.

 

My own MSI 4080 Gaming X Trio has the same BIOS switch, its common on modern higher end GPU's.

The performance is the same between the BIOS modes but the silent BIOS runs 10c warmer but a lot more quiet.

The BIOS switch is probably for Performance and Silent mode. I've had 2-3 ASUS GPU's over the past few years, and that's what the switch always means. When you switch it, I'm not sure if you GPU frequency will change, but I know for sure you fan curves will. Generally, just keep it on Performance mode, and tune the fan curves if you really need to using MSI afterburner, or your GPU vendors overclocking software. 


My current ASUS TUF RTX 4080 also has the switch, for Performance and Silent mode

Thank you @CatTNT & @Hinjima, I prefer lower temps and hardware life over quiet and performance. So, this is very good to know!

No Problem  

I actually prefer a bit higher temperatures with lower noise levels.

With performance BIOS my GPU at all times try to stay at 60c and that can get a bit loud sometimes.. With the Silent BIOS I get around 68-70c but much lower noise levels.

The hardware life between 60c and 70c should not be affected at all, I'm no where near the limit.

 

But there is no right or wrong here.  I ran with the performance BIOS for 2 years  

I have also overclocked my card quite heavily.

My computer being on the floor and around 5 feet from my ears, the amount of noise doesn't matter, because I' don't hear it.
