I planning to get a used Meta Quest 3 but I noticed that a lot of people are selling it after using it for only a few months. I was wary of buying something that will collect dust after a few use. Furthermore, there's realistically not a lot of games that interests me for now other than Alyx and beat saber so I'm curious what other forumers think about it.

I love my VR. I have had an Oculus Rift S for like 6 or 7 years and recently picked up the Meta Quest 3. Don't play very often, but it is fun when I do and is always a great party trick when hosting people who may not have been exposed or tried VR previously.

I got a Quest 1 back in 2019 and LOVED IT. It was perfect until they stopped supporting it. Then, my dad bought a Quest 3s last Christmas. Everyone in my family uses it to play games. I'm currently playing Red Matter 2 and other games as well. It was a good purchase.

My Quest 2 is collecting dust because I'm too lazy to set it up. No I did not regret buying it.

I had a roommate who was REALLY into VR. He even had an internship at Oculus (aka Facebook/Meta).

I thought it was pretty cool the handful of times I used it but I could never imagine myself using it more than a few times a year.

I'm currently in the "F it, I'm going to spend money" phase of my life so I might drop some cash on one, once I get a bit more time on my hands.

I got a PSVR2 for PC and I love it.

Have you had any issues so far? I was thinking of going down this route to upgrade from my Quest 1 which I still use

Not that I have noticed, but I dont play in VR that often due to me constantly moving and the main location its not really a great space for VR

I got a Vive which I still have, but not currently set up due to space. I really hoped VR would take off, as at the time I got it, it was the big thing. Room scale stuff was basically like having my own Star Trek holodeck at home. But reality is even if you can get the gear, few had the space to actually deploy it. I've not kept up but I don't think there is much room scale dev going on.

Fixed position VR gaming is less of a use case for me, mainly as I don't really care about any game that can use it. I did dabble with PSVR a bit but there wasn't a killer app for it. I guess there was Beat Sabre, but I'm more of a DDR person so it didn't do it for me.

My wife bought me an Oculus Quest 2 for Christmas during COVID and it was a purchase that I've gotten a lot out of. To be fair the Quest 2 has been 99.9999% a modded Beat Saber device, but it's done a passable job at that. I loathe the lack of lighthouse tracking in my current setup but the non-tethered VR freedom is pretty good.  The Quest 2 also allowed me to enjoy VR while my PC was pretty old and needing an upgrade to properly be used for VR.

Sadly the Quest 2 doesn't have enough horsepower to be able to run some of the really insane mods, but it does enough for me.

I have oculus rift first model, it was only dropped because it was sacrifice to switch to linux, there were opensource projects that would solve it however it's years ago and it wasn't functioning well, since you mentioned it I'll check again.

-nevermind it's 3 years old. I geuss it's still gathering dust.

I'm jank tinkerer if it works then it works.

Regardless of compatibility 🐧🖖

I bought an Index just to play Half Life Alyx and its been collecting dust ever since.

I also bought a PSVR and PSVR2 just because and I don't think I've played anything on them.

VR is in the same category as 3d movies for me. I'm going to avoid it unless you force me to.
