my i5-12400f doesnt go above 3.99-4.00 ghz

For information, you probably could activate AVX512 and Intel Speed Shift in the Bios (not sure if you need it)

Not sure what HVCI stands for.

The 4.4Ghz boost clock is the max turbo frequency, its only going to hit this speed on 1 or 2 cores, not all of them.

For sustained loads and gaming it will sit around 3.99Ghz that you mention.

Try to HwInfo64 to check each individual core's clock speed.

Open something that records the clock speed over time, like hwinfo's sensor tab and report back if any of the cores hit that speed.

This will almost certainly be multithreaded, so if your CPU doesn't boost above 4 Ghz you won't actually lose much (if any) performance for this task.

 

On my Intel CPUs with this boost behaviour, you can only observe the boost above the all-core clock for very brief moments, e.g. task manager barely registers it.

You seem to be missing my point? If the program is using multiple cores/threads (rendering almost certainly will), then the highest boost is 4 Ghz.

 

It will only hit higher clocks when lightly threaded.

 

The average clock reported on hwinfo is higher than 4 Ghz, which would suggest your CPU is boosting higher than 4 Ghz now, but it is mainly operating at high(er) load than the single/lightly threaded boost clock.

i have ran task manger and cpu z on another monitor while doing normal windows stuff and when its rendering, it didnt go up till now

i needed higher clocks so that i can save a minute or two
