branding indeed does not matter and you should get the cheapest thing possible

 

though send a cpuz spd tab and thaiphoon burner screenshot to identify rams as its prefferable to match the ics for compatibility sake

Branding can matter in terms of overall reliability and customer support and such, but just trying to patch up an old laptop, yeah get whatever's cheap.
