Honestly you wouldn't go terribly wrong with 9700x if you want to save some $ (R6 Siege might be slightly different than CS2, definitely way older game, but still similar setting with small map and 5 players on each side and that's it)

  • 9800x3D is faster than 9700x in CS2 though. So as long as you want best hardware and can afford it, maybe while said hardware isn't price inflated, it's ultimately your choice what you will put in cart and buy.

From what I've seen RS6 isnt that comparable due to different engines and the age gap you mentioned and they impact CPU and GPU differently thx to that

RS6 relies on CPU for the destruction physics so it jumps up and down on how much it uses in accordance to what happens while CS2 just relies on the CPU more constantly putting a load on it for long periods rather than pushing it for specific instances(cause of source and source 2 BS) from what I can find

What if YOU were cake all along?

Both games crank fps out of CPU power, they're not that different, if you round 20fps, both games run approx 600fps with AM5+4090

Zen 4 has a bit of an IPC disadvantage but the framerates are already crazy fast.  It is actually odd seeing my mobile zen5 CPU getting higher single core than my 7950x3d lol.
