Got this from a friend of a friend who had a broken 4090FE for 100 bucks. Added a 3D printed base and turned it into a display piece.

 

I actually made another one before with another brand, but I sold it.

I'm not totally against it. better than throwing it out.

 

I was actually thinking of making something like this. Wanted to hack into the lights and fans to keep those working, enclose it in a glass so no dust till get in and cake the fans, have it run on a 12V battery or through a USB cable. Never got around to do it, but I did keep a few old dead GPUs around for the day when I do make them. 

 

I totally get why someone would want to do this, the design is just cool to look at.

I don't see what's odd about this. I did the same a few months ago for my old Titan because I think it looks nice as a decorative piece.

Sorry guys, haha, what I meant was that GPUs have been hard to get, then seeing one having a 4090 as a display piece, even though it's dead, makes me feel kinda sad (in a weird funny way). Anyhow, it's still good, just like the Titan above 🙂
