Related to the topic #4 "Spotify responds to podcasters after Plays metric" during the 17th of May 2025 Wan show

Dan says, and I quote : "Remember podcast goes out everywhere where there is podcast." (1:55:05)

But, as far as I know, The Wan Show is not available on Deezer !

I know no one uses (yet) this platform in America...
But remember you have a broad worldwide audience ! Deezer is quite popular in France, Germany, Brazil and UK 🙂

So, why is The Wan Show still not available on Deezer ? 👀

There's extra cash to be made 😂

why

WAN is available on YT (main target audience) and Floatplane (their own video platform) So why should they use a service their main audience (US, Canada, EU, in that order) doesn't use for whatever it costs (probably not cheap)?

Not really. LMG then has to pay for that streaming service and they have a very capable streaming service in house, so why should they spend more money with less control and not a lot of revenue from that service that doesn't even target their main audience? (that US-ians, really)

Deezer is broadly used in France, since it's French
It doesn't have the biggest market share in other EU countries for sure 😆

I tried to gather some informations online and I can say Deezer has about 1M paying subscribers in Germany and US

(https://toneisland.com/deezer-statistics/#:~:text=33.98% of Deezer customers are, customers are based in Germany & https://www.deezer-investors.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/250319-Deezer-FY24-Results-Presentation.pdf)

I didn't know about that !
Thanks for the fact check 🦾

If it costs them more money than anything else, I guess I have my answer 😄
But Dan made it seem like it's "magic" with podcast and it goes on every single platform (but not Deezer - yet ? -)

I have to ask for citation. I looked Deezeers help files and nothing there suggests artists would have to pay for having their content on Deezer. In fact, for Deezer its better not have artists paying anything. More content is better for their business model where subscribers pay for service and they pay artists per stream ($0.0064 per stream). Revenue for LMG is minimal. But looking at help files it looks like they would just need to setup account and connect to the platform they are hosting WAN Show on. Like, its already on all the major platforms, so if they are using host, they can very easily spread it further.

I didn't 🥺  But that still leaves the issue that most of LMG's target audience is not on that platform. Thing is, signing up and other admin tasks take up valuable time and I doubt the revenue stream will compensate this. Besides, if people are willing to pay for a stream, they'd easily sign up for Floatplane, which generates much higher revenue for LMG, so there's no real incentive for the company to start streaming to Deezers.

If the platform would require manual uploading, I would agree. But since it fetches files from hosting services, one of which LMG is most likely already using, the admin time required per week will be minimal. Only times where someone would need to even log in is if fetch doesn't go through and then wonder on why.

Its different situation compared to people asking videos to be uploaded to alternative platforms and saying main reason to do so is their personal dislike of megacorporations like Google. There the amount of work required will be more and most likely isn't worth the possible monetary or viewership gains. Here I don't think monthly streams will be more than drop in the bucket, considering 1k streams pays just under $7. But I wouldn't rule out the possibility since automation is possible.

That was the main goal of my topic 😉

Even though it's not used by their main audience, it's a nice to have. And, as I read, it won't take any more time for them 🙂
