Hi,

I have an Asus Zephyrus G14 GA403UV Model from 2024, I am getting black screen on built in display, and it happens when i move the lid to a lower angle the screen goes black then when i move the lid back the screen sometimes comes back.
I have an external display that works fine so i know the system is not hanging or anything.
Also sometimes when i turn it on, it displays Asus White Logo and keeps displaying that even though i get to windows and can use windows on my external display but built in one stucks on Asus Logo.
I've updated the drivers and nothing. I've tried moving lid open close multiple times, nothing. I also went into windows setting and changed it to do nothing when lid is closed, still nothing.

I am super worried, even though the product is in warranty but i got it from US but i live in a different country and getting support here is not possible, there are some retailers mentioned on Asus's website, but i don't trust any, and also the laptop would surely be needed to ship that would cost me both time and money. And i am a remote worker and all my work is done through this laptop, so yeah i am super screwed right now. The cursor also starts stuttering like the system is lagging when it can't show display on builtin oled.

The little ribbon cable that connects the display to the mainboard of the laptop is probably either coming loose or outright breaking.
That would absolutely be covered under warranty.
As to how you are going to get the warranty honored is another question. Got a friend who can run intermediary? Or a reverse drop shipper?

Otherwise you'll have to get in there and do maintenance yourself, potentially just reconnecting things, but possibly there is a dying part that you'll have to replace.

Yes, suspected as much, the problem seems to be the display ribbon, I have contacted a third party shop which was mentioned on Asus Repair Centers, they said they only handle warranty for the products they import. So i have emailed Asus hoping they could help me here, but yet i am to receive a reply, i tried their online chat with agent but that doesn't work, getting to the email part was very hard too.

If Asus doesn't reply or can't do anything, i will have two choices, either to wait out and find someone who is going to US, then wait out alot. Or go inside the system to see myself what is happening, it is just that there are no guides on how to disassemble display part, and i fear that i don't break anything and void warranty. If this wasn't an expensive laptop i would've gone and did full disassembly.

Thanks for your reply though.

I found this thread on iFixit. It links to a teardown video that is for a similar model. There are also replacement guides for other parts. In the Thermal Paste guide they specifically mention where the Display cable connects to the mainboard. Just looking at the inside, it doesn't look too hard to just unplug replug the cable to check if it was a loose connection on the source side. If that doesn't fix it (and I'd only put 20% odds on that fixing it), pulling the hinges and getting at the screen doesn't look like it would be too hard.

As for ASUS, you might be able to convince them that you bought the laptop in the States but you're currently abroad and see if they can convince your local shop to do the work.

That teardown is from an old model, the 2024 one is completely different, i was able to hop onto chat with Asus, but they can't help me, they are saying if it was in US or Canada then good, otherwise no luck, i need to get the device to them in US.

I think i am one of the few who have Asus's highend gaming laptop in entire Pakistan, and this is what i get 😞
Looks like i will have to diassemble stuff, and find a way to get the laptop to a different continent.

Not gonna buy any highend device anymore, unless i get sureity that it can be repaired locally.

Personally, I'd say get a different compatible OLED screen for your laptop from an external vendor, as they're usually cheaper than Asus parts.

https://www.lpscreen.com/en_laptop/for-atna40cu03-atna40cu03-002-14-wqxga-2880x1800-120hz-oled-display.html
Here is a suitable display ACCORDING TO MY LIGHT RESEARCH, so please be wary and do some extra digging. Apparently, not only do they have worldwide shipping, but the cost is around £25-50 lower than other websites selling different compatible screens . The screen from the website should cost around 80000 - 100000 rupees, which is cheap for an OLED but PLEASE CHECK THE REVIEWS! Also validate the compatibility of the screen (eg; pins, connector placement, etc;) (ROG laptops usually have a 40 pin connector on the right hand side of the screen. You can check by removing the panel. The resolution of the panel replacement I listed should also be about the same too, resolution: 2880x1800.

Good luck, and I hope you can fix your screen soon.
However, if you can't, and you're going to throw it away after trying everything, I'd be happy to take it off your hands as a summer project 😉

ALSO WHEN PURCHASING A NEW PANEL, PLEASE CHECK THE BEZEL SIZE (the outer lining of the case the contains the edge of the screen). MESSING THIS UP CAN LEAD TO CONTENT ON THE SCREEN BEING SHRUNK OR SOME PARTS MAY GO OFF THE SIDE. SOME PEOPLE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO SAW OFF THEIR BEZELS IN ORDER TO MATCH REPLACEMENT PANELS, HOWEVER I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU REPLICATE THE PROCEDURE.

THEY HAD PROPER TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT, AND ALSO THE TRAINING. MOREOVE THATS ALSO LIKE A £2500 LAPTOP. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM DAMAGING IT UNLESS NECESSARY (because it'll make me cry)
