This gold-infused, Middle East–exclusive GPU costs up to $10,000 and was hand-carried to Computex 2025 so Linus could unbox it. Yes, it’s real. Yes, it smells weird. And yes, it actually works. Now the only question is: what ridiculous build do we put it in?

What a good idea ! Thoses rich kids can use their dad money to buy the next thing that can give them a small amount of dopamine with that instant reward. Yummy ! In 1999 august 31st when the Geforce 256 was announced for about $249, an once of gold cost a bit more than a GPU at $287.

Today an ounce of Gold is $3290.
 

 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 is $1,999 MSRP

So when you look at the cost of a GPU priced in gold, it's actually a good deal.  This is a different way to look at inflation (or how your money is worth less).

And i thought opening my 3080Ti in my back garden covered in dogs was odd.. Seeing linus on that sidewalk.. That was hilarious with a gpu of 8k..

 

My 4090 was 2300$ on 30% off.. Reading 8 bloody K for a graphics card.. It just doesnt even come close.. holy.

Linus was talking about doing a Trump themed pc on WAN show once, but the team was against it if I remember correctly. This would fit into such a build nicely

They already did a build for that hasanabi guy, so why wouldn't they do one for trump? I mean, it's not like they can claim, they are completely apolitical. They can make fun of trump, as much as they made of hasan and everybody is happy (or unhappy I guess).

I noticed he mentioned scalper markup on this one. I wonder if they filmed this quite a while ago? At this point 5090s are quite available, at least in my area. I know my local Microcenter has a pretty large selection, with multiple of each brand on hand. I'm not sure why scalper pricing would still be a big thing.
