Hello, I am troubleshooting a friends PC. She is having an issue where she cannot set the fan speed manually for her CPU like I can do on my ASUS motherboard. She has the HP Omen gaming hub but this is a very minimal tool where you can see 2 things.

1) The temp of the GPU

2) The temp of the CPU

You can set the fan speed at three different levels

1) Quiet

2) Normal

3) Turbo

When we try to install Fan Control it only picks up her GPU. In the BIOS it only shows the current RPM of the fans but doesn't give an option to set it.

She is reading online that this is a well know gripe with HP Omen gaming PCs. You can't set the fan speed manually due to have HP has configured everything.

I know you guys here know a lot, so do you possibly know of a way to configure your fan speeds for the CPU on this PC? She is playing Expedition 33 and her temps are hitting 90 degrees. I know this is way to high and this could be due to low fan speed. When she sets the option to "Turbo" it dips to 80 degrees. This is still to high IMO. She is using an AMD stock cooler.

If any more info is needed please don't hesitate to ask.

PC Model number: hp omen 25l desktop gt12-1520nd

Added explicit context that it concerns the CPU

80c on a amd cpu is normal under load especially with a stock cooler

Hi, it is the CPU not the GPU. I see I didn't say this explicitly, I'll amend my post

I meant to type cpu.

So I at first wanted to recommend to buy a new cooler. But seeing how you can't change the CPU fan speeds wouldn't that be a bad recommendation. Because you can't ramp up the fanspeed anyway. I mean, if you buy a noctua NH-D15 you surely will improve the temps even if the fan speed can't be adjusted right?

I mean what cpu is it? The 25l comes with a crappy cooler and a simple cheap thermalright tower cooler does HEAPS.

Fan is alreadg going at near max at 90c when in balanced or performance.

Yes but well dont waste money on a nhd15 when a thermalright peerless assasin 120 exists for 35$. Also MEASURE if its fits!
