A good high definition monitor?

Go to solution Solved by CatTNT,

How high definition something appears is dependent on screen resolution, display size, and how far away you are from the display.

For 4K, 27" appears really sharp and crisp, while 32" still looks good.
I would recommend, based on my experience, aiming for 100 PPI or above when choosing a monitor. You can find an online Pixels Per Inch calculator and plug in the numbers you're comparing. If you know based on your desk setup, or personal preferences that you will be pretty far away from your monitor, you can probably get away with less resolution and it will still look as good. You can find an online "Retina" display calculator for that too.

I’m looking for a relatively affordable high definition monitor to play games with and watch tv, any specific recommendations would be great.

What is affordable?  Peoples view on affordable is very different.

A set budget would be ideal 🙂

What particular size?  I personally like 32'' as I do a lot of gaming and movie watching. But a 1080p 32'' would be very low resolution for the size.

Probably around 350-450$ and 27” is what I’ve always used.

Thats quite a healthy budget for a monitor!

You can get very good 1440p 27'' monitors within that budget.  Would you like us to look for a 1440p monitor or stick with 1080p?

I tend to go off of PCpartpicker for monitors as well, here is a prefiltered list. I tend to stick to Samsung and ASUS for monitors personally, but have heard good things about Dell/Alienware.

I have personal experience with this one and it was super solid for the price.
