I bought 2nd gen airpod pros when they first came out. Been absolutely nothing but reliable for me until about 3 months ago when the right one stopped charging.

Ive tried all the obvious steps like cleaning the contacts on the case and the airpod itself and "resetting" the airpods with no luck.

the REALLY weird part is that when i put the dead airpod in the case, the case gives me the orange flash and the audio cue that i just put an airpod in to charge, and on my phone i have the batteries widget on the home screen, the right airpod shows up there, shows charging, but just is perpetually at 0%.

these are well out of apple care coverage so i cant really go that route.

am i just chalked, like just time to buy new airpods, or is there some "simple" fix that im overlooking? It would be really nice to have these working again as they are my main source of music when im riding my motorcycle because im too broke to justify a cardo.

IF i am chalked, i do still have a pair of gen 1s around that ive been using in the absence of functioning gen 2s, but the left one of the gen 1s sounds like rattly & tinny, almost like the driver in the earbud is loose in the earbud or blown or something, any suggestions for that?

update, its an issue with the actual airpod, as i have successfully charged my right gen1 airpod in the gen2 case, unfortunately you cant charge gen2s in gen1 cases so that step is out of the cards
