like the title says i have a ROG Strix G614JI_G614JI and my kids dropped it i need some advice in what desktop case would be the most swappable since im not going with laptops anymore first and last also im not taking people that says you cant do that yes defiantly can ive seen allot of mods done including cars and motors people said you cant and yet people i know done it so before telling me i cant think again before you get a smartass answer

You want to swap the laptop motherboard into a desktop case? All cases will be the same since they use the atx standard (assuming you don't go with a dell or hp case)

Just know that you are in for a lot of work.

It IS a custom chassis, and custom motherboard that doesn't follow any standards. And custom power delievery. And custom everything else. That is why it will take extensive modding to get it to work in a desktop case.

You will need to make your own back panel for the case, you will likely need to make custom cable extensions to get everything hooked up, such as power, video, keyboard, mouse and audio.

It is possible to do, but how much money and time do you want to sink into this?

The case WILL hinder you. Any time you try to put non-standard hardware into a case NOT made for it, there will be a hinderance. Nothing on the laptop is going to mount to the cases standard mounting locations. EVERYTHING will need to be modified to fit.

What @Blue4130 meant by "All cases will be the same since they use the atx standard (assuming you don't go with a dell or hp case)" :

All desktop ATX Desktop PC Case uses same standard, which is ATX standard, it will have ATX mounting holes, size enough to fit ATX motherboard, etc.

Likewise for ITX, and MATX pc case.

Doesn't mean your laptop's motherboard will surely compatible there, most likely it won't. Laptop motherboard =/= Desktop Motherboard, Laptop motherboard is made OUTSIDE of desktop PC standard and most often different from even other laptop brand and/or model motherboard.

Not impossible to put laptop's innards into desktop PC case, but it will be a LOT of DIY, especially if you want the end result to look well enough.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

To give you an idea of what you are working with...

The odd shaped board is what you will find in your laptop. The rectangle is a standard ATX board. Wildly different in shape and port placement. For a beginner modder, it will be daunting
