Minecraft paper vs Spigot

Go to solution Solved by AndrewAsd,

PaperMC is generally considered better than Spigot for features and performance. So I'd pick that.

Hi,

Got a minecraft server going for my friends and I, we would like to move it to Paper or Spigot. Right now we are on 1.7.10, and it looks like we'd need 1.8 for Spigot and 1.8.8 for Paper. Wondering whats better between the two. We mostly want the tree feller plugin but might add more plugins.

Any thoughts? If it means anything, im hosting these servers with AMP https://cubecoders.com/AMP

Thanks

This doesn't directly answer your question, but you can also use a modded server with performance mods, and if there are no mods that require it on the client side, any vanilla client can join. I've done this before, but you have to manually test it yourself in case any mod that claimed to be server side only actually somehow sends a packet the client can't understand, and it'd just kick you from the server. It takes a little more effort, but I would naturally assume mods would have the ability to increase performance more than plugins since they can modify more, and deeper in the code.

I've even been able to use modded terrain generation mods on the server, and as long as they don't add any new blocks, my vanilla client was able to join and play around in the limited testing i did (15-30 mins, almost certainly 99% will work fine)
