I recently got a new monitor for cheap, an LG 27GS40W-B for about $130 USD. It looks great, and the 180Hz is nice. Randomly, it goes black for a second and then returns to normal. It is connected via DisplayPort to an NVIDIA 3070 Ti. I'm unable to determine what's causing it to happen. I am running multiple monitors, and when it happens, it is the new LG monitor that is affected. The other monitor continues to display normally. Due to how random it is, this will take some time to troubleshoot and deal with. The other monitor is also connected via DisplayPort to the same 3070, and is an MSI 3440x1440 144Hz.

I do have G-SYNC enabled, and it is a Free-Sync monitor, but I read they should be compatible. The monitor does not appear to be on NVIDIA's list of compatible monitors. All settings seem to be configured properly in my system. The only games I have played in which the issue has shown up are the new Doom Dark Ages and Elite Dangerous. It has happened in Doom several times, and Elite once, and I have not seen it while doing anything else. I have booted up other games like Prey and Half-Life 2, and no issues, but even maxed out settings, they do not push the GPU.

The monitor did come with an HDMI cable, but I accidentally tapped it and it went black. It was the GPU side of the cable, so I did not reverse it to see if it fixed that issue. This does not occur with the DisplayPort cable.

Making the switch to a lower resolution to help with some GPU limitations, and so far, other than the black screen, it is better, even if not an ultra-wide.

Was not, but now is, and the resizable bar is enabled. It was enabled before when all the issues were happening. Now I get to play for hours to see if that fixes it, got to love the random problems with unclear causes. To be honest, I doubt that this will solve it, as my other monitors did not suffer from the issue, but it might.
