No, DRAM is not needed for a gaming SSD

You don't "need" one for either, but it can give better performance in some situations where there's writing going on. For gaming, it might be more noticeable when doing the initial install or applying any updates or patches.

I dram ssd makes the drive better at continental workload like file transfer, but a lot of gaming won’t benefit from it. But if you have a second ssd/hdd you could benefit from dram if both have dram. 
 

I have used a dram and a non dram ssd as a boot drive and game drive, but I have to admit dram feels more consistent in speed (point of dram). In Denmark where I live, the price difference between something like a wd sn7100 and wd sn850x is very small, so I would just go for dram.

No, not at all. My SN770 game drive does exactly what its supposed to.

No. Most games don't even utilize modern SSDs properly, like DirectStorage tech.
