Basically B650m one is basic but decent reviews, ok thermals, 6+2+1 vrms 60A.

B850m one is more recent, no reviews (the b650m one of the same series had bad reviews but looks quite different), 2x5+2+2 vrms 55A and only 20$ more.

It's for a 9800x3d CPU, any advice ?

Thanks.

Are these only MB you can find?

What about ATX sized motherboards? Gigabyte Eagle (AX)? Gaming Plus Wifi MSI? ASUS TUF series?

At face value the 850 is better if 20$ isn't too much money for you.

I guess it depends if you're from US or not.

Hi, I'm in the EU, I'm looking for a matx mb with the GPU on the 1st slot, Wifi and I rather avoid ASRock with the 9800x3d issues, MSI matx boards all have the GPU on 2nd slot.. So I most likely have to choose between those 2.

Which boards? all boards should have GPU slot first or second.

What ASRock issues?

If you are in certain EU states, like for example Germany, I can look at boards with pricetag.

mATX boards:

Asus TUF GAMING B650M-E WIFI

MSI B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI

Gigabyte B650M GAMING X AX

Asus TUF GAMING B650M-PLUS WIFI

MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI

MSI MAG B650M MORTAR WIFI

ASRock B850M Pro-A WiFi

ASRock B850M Steel Legend WiFi

Gigabyte B850M GAMING X WIFI6E

ASRock B850M Riptide WiFi

Gigabyte B650M AORUS ELITE AX ICE

Some of these might be bit more expensive though, like MORTAR, ICE, Riptide 850, Steel Legend and TUF-PLUS.

Well that narrows it down to 12+ countries. What gpu will you be using with your build and which one of these countries are you located and/or do you have a link to any stores you will be purchasing from.

Sorry, I'm in France. And it seems like some 9800x3d stop working and it mostly happens on ASRock motherboard.. Seems unclear why it's happening yet.

I know the 9800x3d doesn't use that much watt in gaming but I'll also be using it for 3d work so idk how many vrms I should be aiming for to feel at ease.

I could find the b650m gaming x ax for 170€ which has big heatsinks and the b850m gaming x wifie for 190€ which has slightly smaller heatsinks but more vrms, I don't know which matters most. The aorus elite ax one looks good but I could only find in white which would probably look odd in a all black pc I think.

It doesn't use much in other non-gaming things too.

There's few choices to pick from.

This gives you PCIe 5.0 which is a good thing seeing how the RX 90XX and RTX 50XX cards support PCIe 5.0.

There's a megathread and reports on the asrock subreddit, some youtuber/articles also picked up on it :

It's hard to tell how many people are affected but on reddit someone did contact a few of the people affected to get some stats on it, out of 181 cases, 173 were either Asrock or Asus motherboards, it affects other 9000 series but mostly 9800x3d, 157 out of 181.

Thank you a lot for the suggestions, I'll most likely go for the gigabyte one I think.

You shouldn't really come to conclusions when seeing things like this.

Any product can be faulty and any individual can rightfully complain, and they can complain out loud, they can complain to manufacturers or support, or they can complain on social media and forums like Reddit.

The megathread also includes casual things and "regular" issues, for example, one comment simply had person saying "I have AMD+Asrock MB, and the RAM training was bit long but everything works". What a comment to post in a thread that is supposed to be a sub-topic of failures and deaths.

Fun fact ASRock and ASUS often have cheapest motherboard if it's not Gigabyte, so there's half of your problem, lot of these people buy cheap MB, it's from ASRock, and now if anything ever dies, it's more likely to die in those motherboards.

They're both Gigabyte, so I think that's a good choice, I approve.
