Seems unlikely to be able to be fixed. Was it like this from new? Even if not, Linus might Make It Right - get in touch with sales and find out.

Man, just unbelievable customer support. It's not lightning fast, but it's impossibly good.
I had a jacket I bought on clearance which had a defective loop for hanging it. Otherwise perfect condition. I hit up support and while it took 4 days for them to get back to me (it was a BUSY time of year, I was expecting more than a week), they looked at the photos and gave me a full refund (which of course I immediately spent on more gear), then I just grabbed my sewing kit and fixed the loop.

Don't even consider fixing it. Email them.

(you don't want to make it worse - they may learn something about a production issue by seeing how it came)

I used to be big into spinners, and i could tell almost immediately that my bearing was running off, too noisy and only spun for about 10 seconds, so i am going to try to oil it with the same oil i used on my spinners. it seems like a semi standard size, so i may even see if i can find a performance replacement.  I can tell the Cap was very hard to remove for me and the bearing has a smell, is unusual, also the fact that the "metal (bottom part of cap with the threads) on Metal (cup of the stem" part of the mechanism bring a lot of friction, surprised they didn't design the cap to "float" a little more.
