Title really says it all, I’m looking for the best performing GPU specifically for Raster under $650. I only play competitive games at 1080p. I currently have a 7800x3D which is working wonders, but my GPU died on me. I’m looking for a used card to give nvidia the middle finger to their price gouging. Don’t care if it’s team red or green though. (Currently running 480hz monitor if that helps)

Yep, 3080Ti tier is likely as far as you need to go. Anything faster likely will not be utilized, at least in my testing with some competitive games in a 1080p window on a 7800x3D. Entirely CPU bound nearly all of the time.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2

Ryzen 7 5800x - XFX RX6600 - Asus STRIX B550i - 32GB DDR4-3200CL14 - Corsair SF750 - Lian Li O11 Mini - EK 360 AIO - Asus PG348Q

6900xt/6950xt for team red (mid 400$) and 3090 (~600$) for team green though if vram isnt too much of a concern theres also the 3080ti (also mid 400$)

For new the only thing seemingly worth buying is the 9070 at 680$ but given its performance increase over the 200$+ cheaper used 6900/6950xt its definitely not worth it though flashing to a 9070xt bios and modding it may make it abit more worthwhile (performs atleast on par but usually better than stock 9070xt with mods and overclock)

a new 7800XT is $600, not much more than an used 6900XT (that rarely goes undere $500), with similar performance at 1080p and a warranty

unfortunately i'm not really finding these prices anywhere when looking around on marketplace, jawa, or ebay even. Most seem to be quite a bit higher, but as of now my sights are set on a 3080ti maybe 3090 for the right price. VRAM might come in handy for some editing in the future

DO NOT GET A 3090
Those rear mounted memory chips will KILL you. They immediately hit 108C under any load. There are plenty of games that perform *better* at 4k with a 3080Ti than with a 3090
I have literally flat traded a 3090 for an 80ti

Doesnt the 3080ti also have the same issue?

Solution here is not being an idiot and adding thermal pads rather than doing a downgrade but hey atleast the guy that got the 3090 benifits from it

3080Ti doesn't have VRAM on the backside of the PCB, neither does 3090Ti. Just 3090.

Jeez, tell me the worst financial decision you’ve made without telling me

anyways, best bet to me is the 3080ti since 3090s are pretty expensive. Hell if you can find it, the rtx titan is basically a 2090 and is pretty good. However if you just need the vram, nvidia Tesla gpus are your best bet in that realm, but don’t display vid nor play games really.

Didnt the 3080ti also have vram heating issues aswell? Afaik all the high end ampere cards had issues with vram heating up

I didn't with my 3090FE for the two years I ran it but a lot of people did. Frankly if you're buying one in 2025 I'd go into it expecting to re-paste and re-pad it regardless.

I get better gaming performance at lower power draw, buddy got VRAM for financial modelling. I didn't have to deal with strangers. Was nice all around
And OP asked for raster performance, so 3080ti

for the money (around 3090 pricing) wouldn't I just be better off going 7900xtx at that point? they're barely different in cost because everyone is massively inflating nvidia pricing atm. Gonna be pulling the trigger on something today though. I dont want fake frames anyways, so i've never even bothered with dlss or any kind of super sampling

That would be good if the Xtx wasn’t over 1200 dollars now, if you want amd the base 9070 goes for around your price range too, and you can flash the bios on some models for near xt perf

Depends on price

Best price performance is usually the used 6900xt/6950xtx at mid 400$

If you want new anyways flashing a 9070 to an xt bios is a good way to get a cheaper xt and with additional midding say evc2 for voltage control you should be able to fly right past the 9070xt, just gotta make sure you buy one with dualbios and prefer one with 8 pins cause even a couple 8 pins will handle 600w better than the 12v high flame rate connector
