LTT Full-size Screwdriver - Sticking Bit Compartment

Go to solution Solved by Needfuldoer,

I think that's by design. The bit holder has definite "open" and "closed" positions that take effort to get out of.

On mine, if I slowly pull it open there's a good bit of resistance until the cap is open about 5mm. After that point, it loosens up and easily goes the rest of the way. (It's not absolutely perfectly smooth the whole way, but we're also talking about plastic on plastic. The machined metal handle of the Precision is going to be smoother.)

When I close it, there's a little "bump" to get past from the fully open position, then once it's about 5mm from fully closed it feels like something's pulling the holder back into the handle.

Just open and close it a bunch, everything breaks in a little bit no matter how it's designed.

Hello, first time poster, but wanted to compare notes - I just received my LTT screwdriver, but I'm noticing the bit storage is sticking. The holder is a bit tricky to pull out, and it's nowhere near as smooth as the Precision driver.

Is this just the norm? It seems effortless in the videos I've seen of the driver, and I more or less assumed the mechanism was the same or similar at a different scale as the Precision.

I've browsed through the forum and Reddit, but haven't heard much mention of this.. does it loosen over time? Is this functioning as intended, or am I just spoiled from starting with the smaller driver?

Not at all, which is where I think I'm probably comparing apples to oranges with the metal precision driver vs the plastic full size. Even in just actuating it today, it's already much smoother (still sticking, but less so) - could possibly just have been the materials warming up and expanding or something after being shipped.

Glad to know there's a break-in period before things smooth out 🙂

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Very fair, I think I probably could've worded my first post a bit better - I'm finding the compartment to stick throughout the travel distance between open and close, besides being tricky to open. That being said, agreed it'll probably improve with time and actuations, and I probably won't even notice it in a few months.

Much appreciated!
